Reading Buddies

Monday, June 811:00 AM—2:00 PMZoom

The DSCL Summer Reading Buddy Program pairs young readers who are going into first and second grade with teen library volunteers or library staff for a half hour of reading encouragement, games, and activities. It’s our goal to make reading fun!

This year, the Reading Buddy Program will meet online through Zoom to allow social distancing for the majority of the summer. The Zoom meeting will start at 11am with a Staff Member reading a story to the group, then break the Zoom meeting into classrooms, so the Little Buddies can read to a Teen Volunteer or Staff Member. There will be take home packets with activities and a Reading Log for you to return at the end of the summer for prizes.

If you can’t make the Zoom Reading Buddy meetings, we will be posting “read -along” videos to our Facebook, website, and Instagram throughout the summer.

The Reading Buddy Program will begin June 8th and end July 27th.

We hope to have some in-person sessions scheduled for the end of July, depending on the recommendation of the CDC and other government agencies during this pandemic.
