CANCELED - In the Garden: Planting a Perennial Garden for a Glorious Spring with Connie Wierman

Thursday, October 2012:00—1:00 PMZoom

Perennial gardens can transform any space with colors, textures and dimension to enjoy year after year.  However, “perennial” is not synonymous with “work-free.” Taking the time to plan all aspects of your garden can reduce the effort and is the first step in your long-term relationship with your thriving garden.

This presentation will focus primarily on the planning process, discussing what a perennial is and considerations for; selecting your space, choosing hardscape, plants, soil preparation, installation, water conservation, and care and maintenance.

Connie grew up in the Midwest; born and educated in Wisconsin, and lived and worked in the Twin Cities and the Chicago area.  She has over 35 years of experience in both drug and medical device development where she was responsible for leading teams and providing executive oversight. She and her husband, Doug, moved to Dripping Springs over 25 years ago where she has since gained valuable Central Texas gardening experience initially through trial and error, then research and workshops. Through the years, Connie has developed a heightened level of respect for those gardening in caliche! She has a particular interest in landscape design with native plants and integration of wildlife habitat.  Connie completed the Hays County Master Gardener course in the fall of 2016, and currently serves as Past-President, is a Project Lead, Chair of the Volunteer Coordination Committee and a member of the Speakers Network.
