The In the Garden Presentation series by the Hays County Master Gardeners covers a variety of topics about gardening, including planting schedules, soil types, trees, native plants, environmental considerations, and more!

If you've never cared for an orchid before, buying it in bloom at the store, this presentation is for you! It is designed for the person who wants to continue to care for their plant after the blooms drop, keeping it healthy and able to bloom again.  Eileen will explain:

•       Characteristics of orchid plants

•       The basic requirements for orchid health – light, air, and water

•       How to encourage re-bloom

Eileen is a native New Yorker but her family migrated to Texas (via New Mexico) when she was a teenager. She and her husband Bob moved to San Marcos in 2008 after Bob had retired and Eileen was winding down her career. Eileen retired in July 2015 and they both became Hays County Master Gardeners in 2016. She bought her first orchid in 2005; since then her collection has grown considerably in both number and variety.

Registration for this event has now closed.
