Beekeeping for Beginners
A hands-on introduction to natural, sustainable beekeeping. We'll explore different hive styles, when and where to get bees, essential gear, basics of bee biology, and more: perfect for curious beginners ready to start their first hive with confidence. Taught by local Master Beekeeper and President of the Texas Natural Beekeepers Association, Nathalie B., who brings years of experience teaching beekeeping to thousands of apprentices, workshop attendees, and interstate conference audiences.
Nathalie B. holds an MBA from Ohio State University and is a certified Master Beekeeper with 14 years of experience managing a wide variety of hive styles. A trilingual entrepreneur originally from France, she turned her passion for beekeeping into a thriving business by founding Bee-Mindful.com, a large beekeeping school and farm in Austin, TX. Her operation offers sustainable and natural beekeeping apprenticeships and 3-day workshops, professional AG exemption services, and budget- and back-friendly horizontal top-bar hives. Nathalie’s innovative redesign of Les Crowder’s hive plans has become a standard for top-bar hive NUC and hive production in the U.S.
Nathalie contributes to the American Bee Journal, serves as President of the Texas Natural Beekeepers Association, and created the World Bee Day Natural Beekeeping Webinar. She also co-hosts the popular "Hive Jive" beekeeping podcast. Previously, she served as a Director for the Texas Beekeepers Association and as chairman of the Real Texas Honey non-profit.
Passionate about community and outreach, Nathalie has developed free training programs and teaching apiaries for refugees in Congo, Nigeria, and Texas, teaching beekeeping as a source of dignified and sustainable income.
